Multi-Stage Brew Timer

Create as many brewing stages as your recipe needs, give each one a name and a duration, and the timer counts them down in sequence with an audible cue at every transition. Your stage list is saved in this browser, so your favourite routine is ready on the next brew.

How It Works

The timer keeps a list of stages in memory, each with a label and a duration in seconds. A one-second interval decrements the active stage; when it reaches zero the timer emits a short tone, advances to the next stage and resets the countdown. A final triple tone marks the end of the brew, and the progress bar always reflects elapsed time against the total recipe length.

Tones are generated with the Web Audio API rather than an audio file, so nothing has to be downloaded and the cue works offline. Stage lists are written to your browser's local storage under a single key, which means the data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.

Step-by-Step Usage Guide

  1. Pick a preset that matches your brewer, or start from the default pour-over sequence.
  2. Rename any stage and adjust its seconds directly in the list — changes save automatically.
  3. Add extra pours with the fields at the bottom, or remove a stage with the cross button.
  4. Press Start when your first pour begins, and follow the audible cue for each transition.
  5. Keep the phone or laptop screen awake during the brew; some mobile browsers throttle background timers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Browsers block audio until the page receives a user interaction. Press Start once and the tone will play from then on. Check that the device is not muted.
Most desktop browsers keep it accurate, but mobile browsers may throttle background tabs. Keep the page visible for reliable cues.
They stay in this browser's local storage until you clear site data. Nothing is uploaded and no account is required.
A 45-second bloom followed by two to four pours of 30–45 seconds each, ending with a 45–75 second drawdown, covers most cone recipes.

Applicable Scenarios

The timer is built for brewers who follow structured, multi-pour recipes: V60 pulse pouring, Kalita flat-bed pulses, AeroPress steep-and-press routines, and espresso pre-infusion. It also works well for teaching, because the named stages tell a second person exactly what to do without reading the recipe. Cold brew and other multi-hour steeps are better served by the dedicated Cold Brew Ratio & Timer.
