Editorial Policy
Last reviewed: 23 September 2026
Brew Bench publishes practical educational material for home coffee brewing and tasting. Our purpose is to make methods, calculations and sensory vocabulary easier to understand; we do not certify coffee, endorse a product or replace a roaster, trainer, technician or health professional.
Authorship and accountability
Pages marked “Brew Bench Editorial Team” are written and maintained by the publisher under that collective byline. It is not a claim that an unnamed individual holds an SCA qualification, laboratory credential or professional title. We identify the publisher, show page-review dates and provide a direct correction route so readers can challenge specific claims.
How we select sources
We prefer current primary or standards-setting material for technical claims: published SCA standards and resources, World Coffee Research material, and transparent calculations. When professional guidance is unavailable or coffee practice is inherently variable, we label a value as a starting point, a reference range or an editorial recommendation rather than an industry rule.
Our Sources & Methodology page groups the references used for brewing calculations, water, sensory work and coffee storage. Each article and tool links to the relevant section.
Review and updates
We review material when a standard changes, a source is superseded, a calculation defect is identified or a reader raises a credible correction. A review date means the page was checked for accuracy and clarity; it does not guarantee that a variable craft process will produce the same result for every coffee, machine or water supply.
Corrections and feedback
To report an error, outdated reference or unclear explanation, email [email protected] with the page URL, the statement in question and supporting evidence where possible. We aim to acknowledge substantive corrections within five working days and will amend or clarify material when warranted.
Independence and commercial disclosures
Brew Bench does not present paid placements, rankings, product reviews or usage statistics as editorial facts. If this changes, the relevant page will identify the commercial relationship clearly and distinguish it from independent guidance.
